Dear UNC Rowing Community, Family, and Friends,
Every stroke on the water and every meter pulled in the erg room reflects the dedication, resilience, and pride of UNC Men’s Rowing. As we prepare for the 2026 Ergathon, our team is rallying together not just to push our athletic limits, but to secure the long-term future and accessibility of our program. From 11:00 AM on November 14th to 11:00 AM on November 15th, our rowers, coxswains, and coaches will keep an erg wheel spinning to show our dedication to this mission.
In years past, our Ergathon funds were primarily used to cover the costs of warm-weather spring training trips. This year, we are taking a strategic step forward. We’ve chosen to stay local for winter and spring training so we can direct 100% of our focus toward operational sustainability and coaching retention. Coaching continuity is the backbone of a successful rowing team. By securing long-term funding for our coaching staff over the next 3–5 years, we can ensure our athletes receive professional instruction, safety supervision, and mentorship—without placing an overwhelming financial burden on their shoulders.
Rowing is a demanding sport, both physically and financially. Our highest priority is to keep team dues low so that financial barriers never stand between a dedicated athlete and a seat in our boats. The funds raised during this Ergathon will directly offset core operational costs, ensuring that UNC Men’s Rowing remains accessible to any student willing to commit to the program.
